WHY CONTRIBUTE?

The Breads of the Creative Cities project supports the preservation and the enhancement of the traditional knowledge around the typical bread. Considering bread as a staple food that plays a culturally significant role in a community’s heritage, raising its tradition allows entire communities to gather centuries of history and culture, telling them through a universal language like that of food.  This way cities from all over the world can participate in the project, which is dedicated specifically to cities that are part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

BREADS OF THE CREATIVE CITIES

Breads of the Creative Cities is an ongoing project of CK Foundation and its partner Tucson City of Gastronomy. The goals behind the project are:

STRENGTHEN THE UCC NETWORK COLLABORATION

Achieve stronger relationships between the UNESCO Creative Cities around the world and their knowledge keepers.

CREATE A CULTURAL DIGITAL RESOURCE

Create a digital hub where stories and traditions of the traditional local bakers, farmers and millers of the UCC are collected.

HIGHLIGHT THE KNOWLEDGE KEEPERS AND THE LOCAL BREAD VALUE CHAIN

Highlight the cultural significance of artisanal bakers, farmers and millers who are part of the bread local value chain.

PROMOTE “BEST PRACTICES”

Promote a new format of inter-clusters project for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
