Discover the Traditional Bread from Chengdu, China

About the city of Chengdu

Chengdu, located in Southwest China, serves as the capital of Sichuan province. Over four thousand years ago, the prehistoric Bronze Age culture of Jīnshā established itself in this region.
The Chengdu Plain, where Chengdu is situated, is renowned for its fertility and is often referred to as “天府之国” (Tiānfùzhi Guó) in Chinese, meaning “the country of heaven” or “the land of abundance”. This vibrant city continues to prosper and was recently recognized as China’s fourth most livable city by China Daily.

Sichuan cuisine, originating in the Sichuan Province of Southwestern China, is a notable style of Chinese cuisine. It is renowned for its bold flavors, particularly the pungency and spiciness resulting from the generous use of garlic and chili peppers. The unique taste of the Sichuan peppercorn adds to its distinctive character. Peanuts, sesame paste, and ginger are also key ingredients in Sichuan cooking.
