Held on January 28, 2025, in Jeddah during the visit of the Italian training ship Amerigo Vespucci, the Bread Creativity Event brought together Italian and Saudi bakers for a unique cultural exchange. Organized by the Creative Knowledge Foundation at Maison De Zaid bakery, the event featured a special collaboration between Italian baker Francesco Carusi – renowned for his work at the historic Antico Mulino Pandolfo in Carrara, Tuscany, Riyadh-based Younis Altewejri, and local bakers. They co-created a new bread, shared techniques, and explored traditional baking methods.
Inspired by the Breads of the Creative Cities Meetings, part of the Breads of the Creative Cities project led by Tucson UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the event also connected with the Bread Between Us initiative. These projects, supported by the Creative Knowledge Foundation, Archi.Media Trust, and Koor Benefit Corporation, promote creativity and cross-cultural collaboration by blending tradition with innovation.
